Forward Together PAC; Governor Mark R. Warner,
Honorary Chairman
Policy Advisor and Outreach Coordinator
Serve as aide to Governor Warner with responsibility
for advancing policy positions through memos and briefings
around issues of technology, including network neutrality,
municipal wireless, intellectual property, and media
consolidation; and developing plan for and directing
strategic political outreach to technology communities,
including formal and informal discussions with leading
technologists.
Additional
responsibilities and accomplishments include writing
about these efforts on the Forward Together PAC
blog and other political blogs, including MyDD and
Daily Kos, and directing the Governor's widely-reported
efforts in Second Life, a multi-player online game.
2003-2006
U.S. House of Representatives Committee
on Government Reform; Representative Henry A. Waxman,

Professional Staff Member
Served as legislative aide with primary
responsibility for technology and information policy
for the main investigative and oversight committee
in the United States House of Representatives, under
the direction of Representative Henry A. Waxman.
Responsibilities and accomplishments included:

Acted
as lead staffer responsible for conducting research,
drafting hearing statements and questions, composing
correspondence, and meeting with stakeholders
on a range of issues related to technology and/or
information (e.g., the Federal Information Security
Management Act, network security, intelligence
agency information sharing, intellectual property,
international trade restrictions, electronic privacy,
Internet architecture, campaign finance and the
Internet, electronic voting , election reform).

Worked
with Department of Defense to eliminate restrictions
on the access to voting resources for U.S. military
and civilians living overseas.

Researched and authored a set of staff reports
on peer-to-peer file sharing released by both
the Democratic and Republican offices of the Committee.

Drafted H.R. 3159, Government Network Security
Act, passed by the House in 2003.
Additionally
serve as primary writer and editor of the Committee’s
online communications. Responsibilities and accomplishments
include:

Authored
frequent email briefings on the Committee’s
work for distribution to both internal government
audiences and the general public.

Drafted communications on a range of issues (e.g.,
campaign finance reform, intelligence breaches,
government contracting) for posting on web logs
and other online venues.
2001-2003
U.S. House of Representatives Committee
on Government Reform; Representative Henry A. Waxman,

Information Manager
Directed the online communications of the
Committee on Government Reform. Responsibilities
included the design and development of the official
Committee website and the expansion of the Committee’s
online presence. Accomplishments include:
- Increased
unique monthly visits to the Committee website more
than tenfold; site received Congressional Management
Foundation Gold Mouse Award in 2003.

Cultivated online contacts and grew highly-targeted
email list of Capitol Hill staff, non-profit leaders,
and activists.

Developed online projects (e.g., Iraq on the
Record – The Bush Administration’s Public
Statements on Iraq, Politics & Science
– Investigating the State of Science under
the Bush Administration) widely cited both
online and in print, including mentions in the New
York Times and Washington Post.

Member for technology and information policy.
